About Our School:
Scoil Naomh Pádraig is situated
about eight kilometers outside Monaghan Town and about two kilometers from the
village of Emyvale, on the main Dublin / Derry road (N2). Including ancillary
staff, there are seventeen people working in our school. Of this, seven are
mainstream class teachers, a resource teacher, a learning support teacher, a
TEFL teacher and our administrative principal, Mr. Michael Boyce. In addition
to this, we have a playgroup on site with a staff of three, a school secretary,
a special needs assistant and a caretaker.
Our mission statement states that we try to provide an opportunity for all our
pupils to realise their potential in every aspect of their development within
a catholic environment. With 220 pupils currently on rolls, this is indeed a
tall order, however, though we are not perfect, we continually strive for perfection.
Our Board of Management comprises of eight members and we have a lay chairperson,
Mrs. A. Flannery. The other members of the Board of Management are Fr. C. Deery,
Mrs. K. Mc Cabe, Mrs. M. Gilbane, Mr. P. Donoghue, Mrs. C. Hughes, Mr. P. Mc
Adam and our principal, Mr. M. Boyce.
Scoil Naomh Pádraig’s reputation for academic and sporting excellence
is second to none. Our educational philosophies are both progressive and inclusive,
as evidenced by the fact that we currently have twenty non-nationals attending
our school. Everyone is made to feel welcome for we combine the familiarity
of a large family with the ideologies of a modern society that is the Ireland
of today. “Le chéile is treise muid”.
